CAR SHOWROOM - Mercedes Benz, a German Classy Car of Daimler: Mercedes-Benz is a German manufacturer of automobiles, buses and trucks. Mercedes-Benz is a division of its parent company, Daimler AG. In 1958, Mercedes-Benz, has signed a distribution agreement with Studebaker-Packard Corporation of South Bend, Indiana (USA), makers of Studebaker and Packard brand automobiles. Under the deal, Studebaker would allow access to the network of Mercedes-Benz dealers in the U.S., managing the supply of vehicles to dealers, and in return receive compensation for each car sold. Studebaker also was permitted to use the name of the German automaker in its advertisements, which emphasized quality over quantity of Studebaker.
When Studebaker entered into informal discussions with Franco-American automaker Facel Vega Facel Vega offer a model of excellence in the United States, Mercedes-Benz objected to the proposal. Studebaker, which needed Mercedes-Benz in the distribution system of payments to help stem heavy losses, dropped further action plan.
Mercedes-Benz maintained office Studebaker works in South Bend 1958-1963, when the Studebaker ceased operations in the United States. Many U.S. Studebaker dealers converted to Mercedes-Benz dealerships at that time.
